Hooray For Boobies!!!

Today was a day that I have looked forward to for a year. It was the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K in Salt Lake. My peeps and I started running this last year in celebration of our good friend Laurie and her triumph over breast cancer.

The day started off as a race against the clock to get everyone picked up and shuttled off the Gateway to start this race. Arriving withing minutes of the starting time, we were amazed to find a parking place. We have to rethink the timing situation next year and leave a few minutes earlier.

Shortly after arriving, we met up with our friend Laurie and got ready to start our "Race for the Cure." What an amazing site. Thousands of people of every possible age, color, size and shape were there to race in celebration or memory of a friend or loved one. Hundreds of women donned pink survivor t-shirts. It was amazing to see how many women are affected and how young some of these women are. It is truly one of the most amazing sites to stand at the top of the hill and see the floods of supporters fighting for the cure. It is a very humbling experience.

Laurie is the mom of three young children and was diagnosed shortly after her son, now nearly 3 was born. She fought hard and strong against the cancer and is now in remission. She now has added to her family a beautfiul baby gir. I have to tell you, in this world of glitz and glamor, Laurie is one of my heros. She is one of the strongest and toughest people I know and has an amazing attitude toward life. She is a great example of faith, courage and determination to all of us.
